Code Interviews
In order to discourage unacceptable LLM use, we may be conducting random code interviews for all projects, with some bias towards code that appears to be LLM-generated or if there is suspicion of unauthorized tool usage. For students selected for code interviews, we’ll hold short interviews to verify that you are able to explain your code and are capable of generating similar code unassisted.
If you are selected for a code interview, you will receive an email from cs61b@berkeley.edu to book your interview appointment for that day. If you have an unavoidable conflict with documentation, please respond to the email and an alternative time can be arranged.
Failure to complete a code interview will result in your project grade being replaced with a 0. Furthermore, if we determine that you do not demonstrate enough understanding of the project, we reserve the right to lower your project grade accordingly.
We want to stress that we don’t want you to fail. The interview will be structured such that, if you are able to demonstrate a reasonable level of understanding, you will pass. If you find yourself at such a point of total desperation that cheating begins to look attractive, please come to office hours for assistance. We are here to help!
